These last couple of weeks I've been busy editing a novel, writing another, and - when I steal some time - making art. I'm playing with some new, larger canvases lately and it's quite intimidating at times, to be honest. I'll be sure to post some pics soon. I'm also playing around with book covers and price points, just to see what happens. This is fun:)
Life really is amazing. Two years ago, I was working long hours for someone else, with no time to write or paint. I thought there was no way out - I had to pay the bills, and being a single mom took all of the energy that my job didn't take. I would write or doodle occasionally, but mostly I just dreamed of 'someday'. Now, due to some serendipitous events and a couple of years of financial and emotional upheaval, I'm exactly where I want to be. I have time - and time, for me, is at least as precious as money. I had to take some chances, and many times I thought I had made a mistake and stepped into a storm of disappointment, but once the sky cleared, I was right where I wanted to be. I still have to work (for now), but my schedule is much more flexible and my new work is much more rewarding.
I don't mean to go all squishy on you, but - don't give up. keep looking for opportunities, and they will come to you. It may be terrifying to make a change, but isn't it always? Things really do work out. You've been through so much and survived all of it. I know, I've been there. Have you made any changes?
